This is my video that shares with you what we will be doing this semester together, if you have a question please send me an email.
Assignments
Week One Through Four:
I will use many different ways to engage my students in learning. First after I
have knowledge that all students have read and understand the book Harry Potter
and The Sorcerer’s Stone
Week Five:
I will have them watch the movie and have them discuss with
partners what is different between the book and the movie. If they spot any
differences I want them to share in class what these are as well as compare
their differences to see if they have the same ones, or if they noticed.
Week Six:
I want them to choose adjectives to describe what they see and how
they may or may not relate to Harry Potter if the action in The Sorcerer’s
Stonewere possible in real life.
Week Seven:
Next, I will have students work on a webquest
that I have created for them through my website.(Please see bottom of this page for portal to webquest). In this webquest they will
create many different things with their partner or
group.
Week Eight:
I will have the students make a prezi
presentation after watching mine about what we will be learning through the next
few weeks. I want their prezi to show their favorite part of the movie, no
longer than two minutes.
Week Nine:
I will have them work on their Mapping skills by
creating their own map of Hogwartz by using scale of porportion with graph
paper. This will also be like a floor
plan.
Week
Ten:
Then they will work on their writing
skills by creating an Owl Post Office Box to send letters to the cast of Harry
Potter. They will create and decorate their own mail box as well as write
letters to their top three favorite cast
members.
Week Eleven:
After that, their next assignment will
be their organizing skills assignment, where they will create trading cards of
each character in the story. They will draw or find pictures online for their
picture of the character on one side and details about the person on the back.
They can play a game by having students present the card to a group and see how
many details they can remember.
Week Twelve and Thirteen:
They will work on their memory skills. They will
create a “yearbook” or timeline of events that happened during the school year
at Hogwarts. They can break down this timeline into specific events and
activities that happened during the year.
Week Fourteen:
I then want them to share these things with me
via video conference. I want to know about their experience with the book and
also wanted to ask them what their favorite character was and
why.
